TL0103009 - Damper position sensor

Description

Voltage sensor allows you to measure voltage over a battery or some voltage source. Sensor allows measuring up to 19.8V. Sensor has loose wires for negative and positive wires which you can solder to required place or alternative install connectors for the wires.

Package content

  • 1 x damper position sensor
  • 1 x analog sensor splitter
  • 1x 5cm 3-pin cable
  • 1 x M2.5x16 screw
  • 1 x M2x10 screw

Installation

Install sensor to 3-pin analog input or use the 4-pin to 3-pin splitter to connect sensor to 4-pin analog port.

Sensor mounting typically requires separate brackets for proper installation. We have couple of brackets designed which you can 3D print or ask us to design a bracket. To keep the motion ratios close to identical between damper and sensor, try to keep the angle between damper and sensor as close as possible.

Typically sensor body is fixed with a bracket to chassis and shaft is fixed to arm. Drill 1.5mm hole to the arm and use M2 screw to attached the sensor.

As the sensor travel is 12.7 mm, it typically requires to mount the sensor to inner third of the lower arm to be able to measure the full suspension travel. To decide the upper point, let suspension go to full droop and also extend the sensor fully.

Configuration

Sensor requires manual calibration to work properly

Calibration process

Sensor requires manual calibration to work properly. What is important to understand that we are measuring damper travel and not wheel travel, because when we analyze the damper performance, we need to measure the damper speeds.

Calibration has different methods and some people use ride height as zero level and some use full droop as zero level. Both methods work ok.
