So we made the his treasure map to make most out from your journey when seeking and working towards your goal.

Prepare the journey

Before you get to full speed with TestLogger Manager, it’s best to put some ground work in place.

Meet Coach TQ

Coach TQ is your friendly assistant and coach which helps you understand chassis dynamics, create training programs, create test plans, summarize session with task list what to do next.

Set your goals

Before you start your your with TestLogger, think what you want to achieve. Either it’s winning a club race or winning IFMAR World Championship, write it down. Writing down a target will help you shift your mind towards your target and team around you.

You can do this in the settings page and at the same check your other settings as well.

Your settings

Understand the concept and terms

Manager different types of objects which may feel a bit overwhelming at first. Quickly read through the linked article before you continue. Not mandatory but can help you in the next phases.

Start setting up your assets

Assets is something what gives context and defines details for run which then can be used for analytics. Assets are divided into personal and global. For example car model is global asset which available for all users and car is personal asset which defines the physical car.

Create a car

Before inputting any data, you need to create a car. You should create a car in Manager for each physical car you have. If the car model is missing, you propose new ones as well. Remember to put transponder ID to timing ID to enable lap time import.

Create track

To be able to log your runs, you need to have a track. In best case, somebody has already created the track for you but if the track is not existing you can create a track for your first session. Tracks are considered as global assets so all users can use them.

Prepare next track day

Create session

Session defines where, when and who will be driving the car. One session groups runs together and one session can have only car defined. Session is the first tool to analyse your performance as it will summarize your runs, setup changes, lap times, etc.

Ask Coach TQ to make test plan for you

Coach TQ can review your old data and based on previous sessions, it can create a test plan for you. Just tell how long you will be driving and if there are any focus areas for you.

Create starting setup

After you have your first car created, you can create a starting setup for it. This is the initial setup of your car that you will use for your first session.

Prepare your equipment

To make most of out of your day, prepare your car for the day to avoid any reliability issues and to maximize the track time.

Day at the track

Prepararing the pit

Before you hit the track in most cases you will be setting up your pit area. Now it also means that you setup your tablet or laptop to work with Manager. If you prepared everything beforehand then it will be just opening Manager in browser and navigating to session.

Hit the track

Yes, finally let’s go to the track. Do a e.g five minute run as you normally do and let’s continue after you are back at the pits.

Create run

A run is the very core of TL Manager. Single run defines who was driving, what track, what car, what setup and what weather conditions were present during the run. You also write feedback, import lap times used tire sets and other data.

Import laptimes and write comments

Coach TQ observations

Coach TQ will now start to process your data from run and make some observations based on what you have inputted.

Plan your next run

To make progress, you need to make changes to learn something. Either start following your test plan or incase something unexpected came e.g. with car behaviour then create a plan to change for the next. If you don’t have any ideas, you can always ask from Coach TQ as he knows your test plan and feedback from the previous run.

Continue the day with more runs

Now continue to the day doing more runs, analysing what happened in the run and then plan for the next run until you are ready to go home

Complete the day

Before you go home even tired, do one more thing… Write a debrief. This forces you to think each component of the car and how summarize the progress over the whole day. And don’t worry, you don’t need to write from scracth. Coach TQ can help you out by providing a draft but it is super important to review and understand what you record to debrief. This will work as your base for next session either it’s a test or race.

Reaching goals

Make training plan

Make training plan for yourself with help from Coach TQ

Track your progress

Define certain elements you are following to see your progress

Go deeper in the rabbit hole

More familiar you get with Manager basic functionality, the easier it is to log the input per run. At some point you don’t even notice writing the comments. Maybe at some point you get the feeling that you don’t progress anymore and you need to find something else find more speed.

TestLogger has the answer for you. Check the Collector line-up and start logging data from the car. By having split times, throttle activity, steering activity and speed, you can go a lot deeper on understanding where can you improve your speed or consistency.

Finding the treasure

Systematic work and TestLogger will get you closer to your treasure. If you reach it, then just aim higher and make a new treasure as your target.
