Object types
TestLogger Manager is in the end data management platform and therefore there are different object types to store data specific for that data type. This can be confusing at start when you don’t know the definitions of objects and this document defines the object types and their relations.
Global assets
Global assets are general items which are public and available for everyone to be used.
Track
Tracks are describing the physical location where you are driving. For track you can e.g name, address, description, owner, etc. As an example track name could be ACME buggy track.
Important is NOT to define layout in the track name or to create a new track for each layout. Track object can have multiple layouts which defines name, length, allowed classes, sectors etc for the layout.
Car model
Car models are defining the various car models which manufacturers provides. Car model defines manufacturer, car model, category it's designed for, website.
Tire model
Each compound of various tire models have own tire model object. Personal tires are referring to these global tire models.
Organizer
Organizer purpose is not only to group data like events and tracks but also give clubs and event organizers possibility to manage their club info and events in TestLogger Manager.
Personal assets
Personal assets are your physical assets and are typically based on some global asset. This data is typically building the base for inputting racing data and keeping that well organised.
Cars
Cars are your personal cars your are physically driving. Each physical car you have, should have virtual counterpart in Manager. For each car you can define the car model, name and timing id (transponder).
Cars need to be created to create runs, setups and racing data. Car setup sheet template is coming from car model.
Tires
Tire object allows you to identify each tire set or pair. This helps you keeping track of tires and which are belonging to same set set. We recommend to write the tire set id to the wheel.
Tires are used in run data to record what tires you are running in the car. You can also set some special parameters like additive time and quantity together in runs for specific classes/categories. This info can then used for analytics.
Collector units
Each Collector main unit you will purchase from us, should show up in Collector main units. You can manage the Collector configs directly in Manager and these will by synced with Connector.
Teams
Manager allows you to create team where you can invite other users to your team. Team doesn’t have any specific settings yet and currently team members can view all sessions from all team members and related data like runs, setups etc. Edit is not possible for team members.
Please expect that this functionality will change a lot in the future.
Racing data
Racing data in general the most important data you collect and is used for analytics.
Event
Event groups sessions together. This designed to help when you have team and multiple drivers doing the same event. Even will allow you to compare different sessions. Also event can be utilized by organizers to promote their upcoming events.
Events are optional, so if you are using Manager without a team, very likely you will not get much benefits out from Events.
Session
Session groups runs together. Session defines track layout, car and dates which will be then used by run.
Typically you should create a new session for one race or multiple test days as long as the track layout and car will stay the same.
Run
Run is the core for pretty much everything. You should create a run everytime your car leaves pitlane and comes back to pits. A single can include information time and date, setup revision, lap/sector times, comments, conditions, tires, etc.
Pretty much all stats will be and is based on run data. So take care that you will record correct data.
Setup
Setup is object to store setup sheet values for car. Setups have revisions and each change you do for the setup, you should save as new revision. This way you can track all changes for the setups and this will help the analytics work.
