Collector configuration is important step for good quality data. Configuration is done with TestLogger Connector and it's recommended to check out the Get Started page to prepare everything.

Pre-conditions

It is recommended to list couple of things from the car before starting the configuration process to make it smoother experience and hopefully improving the config quality. Please write down items as follows.

  • Spur gear or centre diff size
  • Pinion gear or clutch bell size
  • Tire radius (not diameter)
  • Calculate drivetrain internal ratio or find the value from car manual
  • What inputs you are using or in other words what you are measuring.

Car must be powered on so for example receiver channels can be calibrated.

You can power the receiver, servo and ESC via Collector by using USB connection. With electric car this gives the benefit that you can give full throttle with turning the wheels.

Configuration

We recommend that you create your first configuration with wizard as it has complete instructions how to do it.

Connector has advanced mode available for more experienced users, but we recommend to use basic mode for the first configuration. Make sure everything works before going to advanced mode.

If you want to do it manually, here are some guidance where to start. Again we have a process available, so you get an easier start. Main points are as follows.

  • Create new config
  • Set generic values and especially Config name, Pinion and Spur gear.
  • Go through each input to set parameters and calibrate required channels.
  • Calibration is mandatory for Receiver channels and possible for analog inputs.
  • To make the calibration easier, Connector provides separate calibration mode which shows real time value from all channels.
  • After all tabs are covered, save the config to local drive and to the device.

Validation

It's highly recommended to validate your configuration and please read Validate system installation page for further instructions.
